Analysis

Costa Rican legislation acknowledges the right of all inhabitants of the country to receive a diverse education, which is understood as secondary level education. The State takes both the recognition and fulfillment of this right seriously, and it applies it to all individuals, including refugees and asylum seekers.

The Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice has played a pivotal role in defining the full extent of the right to education in jurisprudence. Their rulings have been clear, asserting that this right must not be restricted based on an individual's migratory status or the absence of documents pertaining to their academic background from their country of origin.
