Refugees, in line with the current regulatory framework, have the opportunity to engage in gainful activities under a employer-employment relationship or through self-employment initiatives. This is possible without the requirement of processing additional work permit documents nor it is subject to any specific employment arrangement.
However, for asylum seekers, the regulations dictate that the work permit application process mandates the submission of necessary documentation related to a potential employer after three months from the formalization of the asylum application. Consequently, the issuance of the work permit becomes tied to the presence of a particular employment relationship, be it with a company or an individual. Nevertheless, asylum seekers are specifically excluded to work under self-employment and if found in this situation, this will result in the rejection of their asylum application.
