Refugee and asylum seekers are entitled to the same individual and social rights as Costa Ricans, as per the Political Constitution, except for the limitations specifically established by it. If their stay is regular, they are entitled to freely move within the country. The right to freedom of movement is to be interpreted in line with human rights conventions and international treaties ratified by the Costa Rica.
Article 15 of the Código de la Niñez y la Adolescencia, minors have the right to remain in the country, and move freely without more restrictions than those provided in this Code and any other legal provision, such as those derived from the exercise of parental authority and obligations prescribed by their schools.
