Analysis
The FDRE Constitution, under article 25, prohibits discrimination on the grounds of race, nation, nationality, or other social origin, color, sex, language, religion, political, or other opinion, property, birth or other status. The Preamble of the Constitution also upholds the principle of equality between men and women by the enjoyment of individual and people’s fundamental freedoms and rights without any sexual discrimination. Also, article 34 (1) prohibits all forms of discrimination against women and discrimination based upon marital status and social origin.
Furthermore, the Refugees Proclamation, under Article 4, provides for the application of the Proclamation without discrimination as to race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, political opinion, or other similar grounds.
