The Ethiopian Constitution under Article 36(1)(d)) states that "Every child has the right not to be subjected to exploitative practices, neither to be required nor permitted to perform work which may be hazardous or harmful to his or her education, health or wellbeing. And also the labor proclamation of the country under Article 89(2&3) prohibits the employment of persons under the age of 15. It also prohibits the employment of young workers (persons between 14 and 18 years of age) to perform work which, on account of its nature or the circumstances under which it is carried out, is harmful to the life or health of the young worker.

Article 89(2) and (3) Working Conditions of Young Workers
It is prohibited to employ a person less than 15 years of age and It is prohibited to assign young workers on work, which on account of its nature or due to the condition in which it is carried out endangers their lives or health.
