Description
The Passports and Travel Documents Act of Tanzania (2002) governs the issuance, control, and use of passports and other travel documents for Tanzanian citizens. It outlines the types of travel documents available, eligibility criteria, application procedures, and penalties for misuse or fraud. The Act also empowers the Minister to make regulations and provides for the revocation or refusal of documents on national security or public interest grounds.
Selected provisions
A Geneva convention travel document shall be valid for all countries for a period of two years subject to renewal for another two years, provided that, the total period shall not exceed eight years in aggregate.
The Director may, where— (e)it is in the national interest or national security, at anytime revoke the passport or travel document granted or issued to the holder.
