Description

This Act establishes a legal framework for how Malawi identifies, admits, protects and regulates individuals who qualify as refugees. It creates a Refugee Committee to oversee status determinations, sets out refugees’ rights and obligations, provides for appeal and review mechanisms, and empowers the Minister to make detailed regulations.
