Do domestic laws and policies provide for the cancellation of refugee status?
Assessment by population
Analysis
Bangladesh is not a state party to the 1951 Convention or its 1967 Protocol and does not have national legislation or policy framework on asylum. As such the question regarding adherence to international standards in regard to cancellation or revocation of status is irrelevant.
Without national asylum legislation, UNHCR can conduct mandate Refugee Status Determination (RSD) for non-Rohingya asylum-seekers and follows internal core standards and procedures as presented in UNHCR’s Handbook and Guidelines on Procedures and Criteria for Determining Refugee Status.
