In accordance with Article No. 8 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Tajikistan, forced labor is prohibited, except in cases provided by the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan. Forced labor does not include the following:

  • Work performed based on the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan regarding military service;
  • Work required under conditions of emergency circumstances that threaten the life, personal safety, or health of the population;
  • Work performed in accordance with a court sentence that has entered into legal force and is under the supervision of authorized state bodies responsible for ensuring the legality of the execution of court decisions.

    Article No.8 - Prohibition of Forced Labor

    1) Forced labor is prohibited, except in cases defined by the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan. 2) Forced labor does not include: - Work required under the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan on military service; - Work required in emergency situations that threaten the life, personal safety, or health of the population; - Work required as a result of a legally binding criminal sentence and performed under the supervision of authorized state bodies responsible for ensuring the legality of judicial sentences. 3) In the cases specified in part 2 of this article, the employee cannot be placed at the disposal of private individuals or non-governmental organizations.
