Country context
Myanmar is a country marked by significant displacement, with an estimated close to 6 million people expected to be forcibly displaced or stateless. The situation in the country exacerbated the vulnerability of various ethnic groups, including the Rohingya, Kachin, Chin, Shan, Kayin, Kayah, Mon, and Bamar populations. These groups face displacement. The Rohingya are particularly affected.
Forcibly displaced persons from Myanmar are scattered across various regions, and across neighboring countries, and reside in refugee camps, urban settings, and other locations. Stateless individuals, many from ethnic minorities, continue to face significant challenges in obtaining legal identity documentation, leaving them.
...The humanitarian situation is further complicated by the volatile climate, including cyclones and monsoons, which repeatedly displace communities and destroy fragile infrastructure.
